Jaimee Nolan – Her Myeloma Story

Event: Dublin Marathon

Campaign:In Memory of: Bryan Nolan

I’m Jaimee Nolan and I am running in the Dublin City Marathon in memory of my Father, Bryan, to raise funds for Multiple Myeloma Ireland.

My Dad was married for 36 years to his best friend, Shirley, and together they created our family, my three older brothers; Michael, Kyle, Mitchell and me the youngest at 29, Jaimee. Dad also had 3 grandchildren, Tia, Zania and Axel, whom he was extremely proud of.

I was lucky enough to have a Dad that shared my insane sense of humour. I knew I could tell him anything and he would always have my back. He was the best dad a girl could ask for. When Dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, no one in my immediate family knew what Multiple Myeloma was, in fact we had never heard of it. From the outset, he made it his mission to fight this battle until he was in remission so he could spend his retirement travelling with mum. However, he also developed amyloidosis, which took over, and Dad passed away in November 1st 2014.

These weeks and months following my Dad’s passing have been some of the darkest I’ve ever experienced but I had to try and keep my head above water. Sink or Swim…..Instead I began to run.

I am running the Dublin Marathon on October 26th to bring awareness of Multiple Myeloma and to raise funds for Multiple Myeloma Ireland. I ask of you any donation big or small, for a charity I now hold so close to my heart, in exchange I will run 42km, and for those of you who know me this is an enormous challenge but it is something I am determined to complete with my Dad’s memory pushing me on.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story and thank you for your kind donation.
